For the past year, I have had the opportunity to work with the lovely Rachel Bright. She opened her remote farm studio to me and taught me more than I can imagine about all things creative, encouraging and optimistic. Some of the types of design items I got to help with are below from the popular card/gift range, “The Brightside.”

I also helped print some of Rachel’s etchings alongside her as well as do some digital colouring for her illustrations – both picture books and booktrust poems. This was all great and exciting. The most exciting was developing a friendship with one of the loveliest people in the country who really is the voice behind her cards and books. This very successful lady also encouraged me to keep pursuing image making and get excited for the projects that are still being birthed in my sketchbooks and animation programmes.

As Rachel is on maternity pause for the upcoming future I am both excited for her and feel compelled that it is a time for me to grow in the next step for my own autonomous work. But I am ever so grateful for the last year of working in the Brightside Studio and I look forward to continued friendship and creative ventures.
